Youth Day in the People‘s Republic of China is on May 4. It was established in December 1949 by the Government
Administration Council to commemorate the beginning of the May Fourth Movement in 1919. This day is known as May Fourth Movement,Chinese intellectual revolution and sociopolitical reform movement. In 1915 young intellectuals inspired by Chen Duxiu began agitating for the reform and strengthening of Chinese society through acceptance of Western science, democracy, and schools of thought, one objective being to make China strong enough to resist Western imperialism. On May 4, 1919, reformist zeal found focus in a protest by Beijing‘s students against the Versailles Peace Conference‘s decision to transfer former German concessions in China to Japan. After more than a month of demonstrations, strikes, and cotts of Japanese goods, the government gave way and refused to sign the peace treaty with Germany. The movement spurred the successful reorganization of the Nationalist Party and gave birth to the Chinese Communist Party. See also Treaty of Versailles.

岁月如烟，流年似水。五四运动所包含的“爱国、进步、科学”的精神火炬，历经一代又一代仁人志士的接力传递，正与时俱进地在新世纪的道上阔步向前。
我们知道，今天的好形势来之不易，是先辈们抛头颅、洒热血换来的。也深深知道，在今天祖国建设的征程中，有的人正在用自己的青春守卫着祖国的门；有的人正在漠深处、草原边疆、基层一线默默地奉献；有的人正在科技的前沿勇攀高峰，为国家的建设做出了不寻常的业绩；还有的人在服务社会、奉献爱心中赢得了党和人民群众的高度赞扬。
他们都集中体现了当代青年积极向上、奋发进取的精神风貌，尤其是表现在关心社会、好学肯钻、报效祖国的实际行动上，具有鲜明的时代特征，为我们今后的学习进取和确立人生目标奠定了基础，指明了方向。
青春因奋斗而美丽。为了适应时代的要求，接受祖国的考验和挑选，我代表在场的所有共青团员和广青年决心坚持做到：
一是要坚定理想信念。
崇高的理想和坚定的信念，是我们实现人生价值的基石，是前进的灯塔，是奋斗不息的动力。要始终坚定党的正确领导，坚信事业，在风浪中旗帜鲜明、立场坚定，始终坚持听党的话、跟党走。
二是要做知识的富有者。
